How much should I expect to pay to get my Miata aligned per Lanny's settings? I just want to get an idea so I will know what a fair price is when I shop around. Thanks a lot

Well a lanny alingment shouldn't cost any extra. Some shops (specielty) will charge more, some are ever 110 for a four wheel alingment. But if you go to a decent shop there alingment should run around 60 dollars and if you go in there with the alingment spec sheet in hand and give it to them telling them these specs are within factory tolerance they will usualy just set them like it. They might put up a semi argument but usualy don't care after you explain to them why it should be like this

My first time at an incompetent shop was about $120 for a bad alignment...
My first time at a shop where the guy really knew his stuff was $90 for 1.5 hours of work. Now that he knows the car, it runs $60 for 1 hour labor to get it re-tweaked every now and then (once at the beginning and once at the end of the AX season).

There is a guy here in Cinti that does perfect ones. Every thing is right on what you want and the same side to side. Charges like $59 a hour. Usally takes about a hour for a race alignment. He does Corner weighing also, that was not cheap about $200, but it was perfect.

I've tried two different shops. Both very good and both close to $60.

A local shop where I live is comfortable with Miatas and offers a $129/lifetime alignment deal. They handle custom specs, I sit in the driver's seat, there's a computer printout before/after. Sounds too good to be true, but they're good (and just don't know how far that $129 is going to go!).

We pay ~ 75.00 for a computer alignment with printout set to our specs while sitting in the seat. Going again in the AM for some tweaking. But then the shop is run by AXers. It's a bit of a drive to get to but worth it.
Ask the local serious AXers where they recommend, they know the best places in the area.

The problem I had was finding a shop that either would let me sit in the car or balast the car with my weight. Most chain stores won't allow you to sit in the car "due to insurance reasons." I did have a Firestone shop let me sit in the car, but then I went back, another manager was on duty and I couldn't.
I have an appointment to have a very reputable shop ( Fordahl Motorsports (http://www.fordahlmotorsports.com/) for anyone in the Seattle area) on mid March to do my car (they are super busy with all the local autoxers and road racers getting their cars setup before season starts). They charge $95 for a Miata and it usually takes ~2 hours they said. They balast the car with your wieght and are very knowledgable with performance oriented alignments. They also supposedly have this super nice Hunter computer alignment machine which is super precise.
Anyhow, I'd say $50-60 is good for a hit-or-miss alignment at a chain or other small shop. $90-150 for a race shop.

I've paid from $60 to $120 at a race shop for a perfect alignment, depending on how long it took. If it cost $200, it would still be the best bargain in performance mods.
FWIW, I spent $400 over two years to find the specs I like. It was worth every penny.

It seems that most race shops just charge about $60 a hour from what I have seen. If you want that perfect alignmet and it to stay I would pay the money. Like Larry said its the best thing for the money you can do. The race shop and one with Miata experince is the best best. We have had many pretty good alignments just go all out of wack because they did not tighten the bolts enough or they over tighten them. Also if oyu going to spend the time and money get your weight in the car.
