vuesguk This movie soooooo Boring Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/25/23 Full Review While lacking in some essential dialogue, this movie hits the mark in so many other ways. The symbolism is thoughtful and meaningful (discovery of the father's photograph signaling a hidden life) (The capture and release of the moth signifying a possible hope of change) (the reference to a mermaid/water nymph a' la Rusalka and the name of the cigarettes smoked by the boys) (the pursuit of the deer exemplifying a fruitless effort) are just a few of the coincidences that make the clichés more than just clichés This movie must be watched repeatedly to pick up all the nuances. Too many people who only want to watch and not feel, miss out on so much of the context. The script is superb in accentuating the acting agility of the major characters without making it obvious the are merely actors. Each identifies with their respective characters And Phenix Brossard is just so damn hot! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/13/22 Full Review isla s I liked the cinematography and the musical score in this film - it felt like quite a gentle and poignant film to an extent, depicting two adolescent, teenage boys expressing their emotions in a way perhaps not expected of people their age. Indeed there's something poetic about it - the mix of classical/instrumental music and the camerawork focussing on the expressions the characters give and semi imagined scenes at time. It should perhaps be said that there are clearly sex references and more specifically depictions of masturbation, which may embarrass some and as far as thats concerned, its not so 'gentle' maybe but its certainly not something seen in an entirely exploitative way a lot in every scene. I liked the eye contact, the character development between the 2 teenagers and learning more about their circ*mstances via the discussions they have and the body language. The performance by Alex Lawther is particularly memorable. One of the teenagers is French, so there is a fair bit of French language present, hence its partially subtitled. I thought this was a quite well made film and so yes, I'd recommend it.
