Scopely is looking to add an experienced systems design leader to our Marvel Strike Force team.
What You Will Do
As a Systems Design Lead, you will be part of a skilled development team who are tasked with the creation and maintenance of long-term gameplay systems, focused on hero collection and combat. This role will grant you considerable responsibility and autonomy in building and maintaining fun, engaging mechanics for a highly-engaged audience. You will be expected to:
Deeply understand players’ needs and motivations to inform design decisions
Work with project leads and other designers to develop RPG systems with long-term gameplay and social interaction as a focus
Manage the daily work for a small systems design team, and lead the development of game features working in a cross-disciplinary pod structure.
Brainstorm, document, and work with a team of designers to bring these systems to life
Collaborate with cross-discipline teams in the creation of systems that leads to visible, accessible, user-friendly and engaging features
Produce and update game specs that contain the right level of detail while staying concise and easy to understand for the whole team
Iterate using player and team feedback to optimize for fun, comprehension, and function
Playtest the game, continuously pushing for improvements to existing designs
What We’re Looking For
Experience working on progression-related systems in games, focusing on fun, balanced systems with long-term play
Experience working on large and complex gameplay systems such as RPG or 4x economies, crafting systems, or RPG itemization
Ability to develop and communicate complex systems on Core, Meta and Social layers
Ability to work well within an international and multicultural, dynamic, cross-discipline, and iterative team environment
Self-motivated, positive, and collaborative, with an ability to receive and provide objective, useful feedback
Understanding of designing and modeling for game economies in a live game
Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills
Bonus Points
Experience in hero collectors, squad combat RPGs or similar design
Experience with social gameplay
For candidates in CA, CO, NJ, NY and WA, the annual salary range is $186,300 - $244,600, plus equity, bonus and benefits including healthcare benefits, retirement benefits, pet insurance, paid holidays, paid Scopely free days, and unlimited paid time-off. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
