Kenneth Branagh has made three Hercule Poirot movies, and they've pulled in different box office numbers.
Overall, “A Haunting in Venice” is by far Branagh's best version of Poirot. Despite some genre stumbles, this was a fantastic Halloween movie featuring a great cast, with a storyline that kept me engaged the whole time.
While Poirot 4 hasn't been officially confirmed, it is expected due to the success of the franchise and Kenneth Branagh's interest. The release date for Poirot 4 is uncertain, but it could possibly arrive in 2024, following the recent release of. The cast is yet to be announced.
A Haunting in Venice is the best of Kenneth Branagh's trilogy of Poirot adventures. This one being a smaller scale whodunit with a supernatural edge fixes any remaining issues whilst still being an engaging mystery with a satisfying answer to whodunit.
The series took place over 25 years and it is amazing that Suchet was able to film all the Poirot short stories and novels, barring one very short story, The 'Lemesurier Inheritance'.
David Suchet – The Long-standing Poirot
In 1989 David Suchet took on his first role as Hercule Poirot, which would be the beginning of a 25-year career which saw him depict Poirot in 70 episodes across 13 series, watched by 700 million viewers in over 100 countries worldwide.
The following is a list of episodes for the British crime drama Agatha Christie's Poirot, featuring David Suchet as Poirot, which first aired on ITV from 8 January 1989 to 13 November 2013. In total 70 episodes were produced over 13 series.
The gumption of Holmes is simply unparalleled. It's impossible not to love the dedication Holmes puts to his business, even if some of his attempts to keep his intelligence together seem horribly misguided at best. Poirot is lovable, too, although in a different way.
The Jarché family was originally named Jarchy, and were Russian Jews. Suchet's paternal grandfather, Isidor Shokhet, was a Lithuanian Jew and lived in Kretinga, a Lithuanian city in the Pale of Settlement of the Russian Empire.
Why did Poirot end?
Christie killed Poirot in part to keep others from writing future stories, but she couldn't control adaptations of her existing tales.
A Haunting in Venice is a mystery movie directed by Kenneth Branagh, based on the novel by Agatha Christie. As you may know, Kenneth Branagh, an excellent actor and film and theater director, has taken it upon himself to revive Agatha Christie and portray her iconic detective, Hercule Poirot.
Katherine died in a train accident while on her way to visit Poirot in the hospital, leaving him closed off from love and full of guilt. Poirot's personal isolation and lack of faith in the afterlife stem from the loss of Katherine and his belief that everyone he loves dies.
He has also been depicted in film and television by an array of actors, with Kenneth Branagh's latest iteration, A Haunting in Venice, opening on the big screen in September 2023. Poirot's characteristics have led us to speculate that he may be autistic, even though Christie never explicitly said so.
Both films are standalone whodunits, with Branagh's Poirot the only returning cast member, so you don't necessarily have to watch (or rewatch) them before A Haunting in Venice.
To play the small, portly Belgian, Suchet has for many years had to wear layers of padding beneath Poirot's immaculate clothes. "I've always called it my armadillo suit," he says.
Apart from the odd words in French, we rarely hear Poirot speak this language. But I must say that David Suchet's French, as someone who does speak French, is impeccable in this episode, especially when he has the conversation with Madame Giselle's maid.
Answer and Explanation: Hercule Poirot is financially successful, thanks to the consulting fees and rewards he brings in while working cases. As seen in Murder on the Orient Express, he is wealthy enough to take an international vacation, and he does not seem to have any money concerns in his books.
Emily Blunt guest stars in Poirot's unravelling of the death of a honeymooning heiress.
Poirot, using a wheelchair due to arthritis, and attended by his new valet Curtiss, will not share the name of the previously unsuspected person, using X instead. X is among the guests at Styles Court with them. The old house is a guest hotel under new owners, Colonel and Mrs Luttrell.
Did Poirot gain weight?
In an interview for PBS' Mystery! viewers in the US, David Suchet says this about the "fatsuit": "You see, as Poirot I wear a lot of padding and I may look fat, but I'm not fat. In fact, this is all illusion.
Hercule Poirot, a famous Belgian detective, who has a knack for getting embroiled in a mystery, is one of Christie's longest-running characters, and David played the detective for 25 years before leaving in 2013.
Hercule Poirot was likely not married. His marital status was never directly stated in any of the stories or books in which he was featured.
1. The first portrayal of Poirot was by Charles Laughton in a 1928 stage production of Alibi; an adaptation of Christie's well-known novel The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. 2.
Agatha Christie's love of literature began at the age of five when she taught herself to read. Growing up she enjoyed reading Conan Doyle's early Sherlock Holmes stories with her sister Madge, who later challenged her to write her own detective story.
